Lamy pens are seen by many as cult pens as they engender very strong passion in pen lovers. Manufactured by a German company the design of these writing instruments has been strongly influenced by the Bauhaus design movement in Germany and this is reflected in all of their pens including the ballpoints and rollerball.
Two of the most popular Lamy pens are the Safari and Studio with the former being an incredibly good value and high quality pen with a low price point by fountain pen standards. Yet the design, feel, beautiful grip and many vibrant colors to choose from give you a great choice of buying a truly individualistic pen at a great price.
Lamy ink has a superb reputation also and if I could find one quibble with the Safari which I use myself on a daily basis it is that the ink reservoir has to be purchased separately. So if you are buying one online in Amazon or Ebay or wherever make sure to buy a Z24 cartridge converter also.
Lamy pens can hold their own with any leading fountain pen anywhere including their more expensive competitors such as Mont Blanc, Pelikan, Sailor, Cross, Rotring, Waterman and others and are well worth considering as a great starter pen with a view to trading up to the more top end models down the road.
One word of caution about Lamy pen refills-the Lamy refills are not as standard or interchangeable as other refills and until I received my Lamy refills I could not use the pen as the standard or international refills would not fit my Safari.

I just recently acquired the LAMY Dialog 3 from Paradise Pen, a retail chain. I was intrigued by the inventiveness of design. The minimalistic stylings and eye catching retractable nib and nib cover were just too much to resist. I got the pen in the medium 14 kt dual colored rhodium plated nib. It writes surprisingly well, but I must take care to not make comparisions to my S.T. Dupont. Clearly they are apples & oranges..! With the LAMY Dialog 3 you are buying a different sort of animal. A real stand out from all of the other pens on the market.
I am only somewhat disappointed on the pen’s capacity and ink frugalness. I seem to have to refil it mid letter writing to maintain a solid wet bead as I write… On the whole? I would rate my experience thus far 4*’s out of 5*’s. I would recommend this pen to my friends.
